Having focused our attention on the theme of Connection last year, we've chosen the theme Impact for 2026. Knowing how connected we are with others and with nature, we thought it was important to highlight how every action has an impact.
This year we will continue to champion coastal clean-ups, expand nature-based projects, and deliver education and awareness campaigns that help the public understand how every choice, no matter how small, leaves a mark on our natural world.
THE RIPPLE EFFECT
The ripple effect is the idea that any single action, idea, or event creates a chain reaction, spreading outwards to affect many others.
At Clean Coasts, we believe in the power of the ripple effect, and that small actions can in turn make a big difference when people come together to work towards a common cause. By recognising and nurturing our own individual ripples, we can take the first steps toward fostering an intentional positive impact for our planet and our future.
THE POWER OF COMMUNITY
The strength of Clean Coasts has always been in its communities, with groups of passionate people volunteering their time and coming together with a shared purpose. From beach clean-ups to awareness campaigns, these collective efforts show the power of coming together for a common goal.
By coming together as a wider collective, the Impact to be made increases significantly. Sharing knowledge, skills, and ideas can spark inspiration in others to make a positive change.
LOOKING FORWARD INTO 2026
This year, Clean Coasts will be embedding the theme of Impact into everything we do. We'll be encouraging communities to consider the impacts of their actions on the world around them — both positive and negative — and how we can strive to choose actions that protect and restore the natural world.
We aim to highlight and celebrate the remarkable contributions of volunteers across the country, showcasing the ripple effect of your dedication and encouraging others to join our growing community.
Everything on Earth is interconnected. Our rivers, seas and lakes all flow to our Ocean, which is connected by the currents, wildlife, and biodiversity that affects our planet as a whole. By acting with sincerity and determination we can help ensure a more sustainable future for generations to come.
